One easy way to make planner stickers is by using Microsoft Word.
All About Planners put together a great video tutorial to walk you though the steps.
This is a great way to make simple planner stickers using Avery sticker labels. Avery and similar label companies produce full sheet label paper in many different shapes and sizes. They also have templates you can download and use with Microsoft Word.
You can convert PDF Printables into DIY Planner Stickers
Not sure you can design your own stickers? No problem. There are hundreds of super talented people out there who have done the work for you. The easiest way to find DIY planner stickers is to do a quick look on Pinterest and search for free planner stickers. You can also check out this post where I’ve listed a bunch of free planner stickers for you.
But how do you convert those PDFs into something that you can use? Lovely Planner put together a great post detailing all the ways you can do this.
You can also find very inexpensive planner sticker digital downloads on Etsy. You pay a small one time fee for the digital file and then you can print out your stickers over and over again.
DIY Planner Sticker Supplies
I have a few materials that I recommend gathering before you start making your own planner stickers. These include
- A printer
- Sticker Paper
- Good scissors or X-Acto knife
You don’t need a super fancy printer to make your own stickers. I have a Canon all in one printer that does the job quite nicely. I ordered it off Amazon for under $50.
The Canon printer is really good on ink, which is one of the reasons I bought it. If you are printing your own stickers, you will go through printer ink pretty quickly. You can buy remanufactured ink cartridges and save on some of the cost.
You can print on plain paper or card stock and glue your “stickers” into your planner. I prefer to use Avery matte full sheet sticker paper. These are basically a solid white sheet of sticker paper, which allows me to cut whatever shapes I want to out of it.
Scissors or X-Acto
A good, sharp pair of scissors are great for cutting out simple sticker shapes. If you are working with more curved lines and details, you may prefer to use an X-Acto knife. Just be careful, these are sharp!
Make DIY Planner Stickers with Canva
You can make cute planner stickers for free using Canva.
In Canva, open a new document in A4 or US letter size. Go to “elements” on the sidebar and then to “illustrations” to look at the clip art. Search the clipart until you find something you like.
When you’ve found clipart you want to use, drag it into your white section and resize it. Then click the “copy” button and you can duplicate your image as many times as you want on your page. When everything looks right, just print it out and cut out your images.
